The 2340
Q: Which trick was successfully landed for the first time ever at the 2025 X Games in Aspen?
A: A 2340
What is a 2340? Most people will be familiar with a 360, where someone does one full turn in a jump. If you do the math, a 2340 is 6.5 turns in one jump. Hiroto Ogiwara, a 19 year old snowboarder from Japan, became the first person in the world to successfully complete this insane trick. See it for yourself here (try not to get dizzy):
During the Pacifico Mens Snowboard Big Air event at the 2025 X Games in Aspen, Ogiwara easily beat the competition to win the gold medal with this history making jump. As if landing the trick wasn’t impressive enough, this was not only his first appearance at an X Games, but he also achieved this after fracturing his wrist earlier in the day.
This adds on to another world first achieved by Ogiwara - in 2022 he was 16 when he became the first person in the world to land a backside 2160 (which is 6 turns).
He achieved what he set out to do these games - as shown by this earlier photo where he used a translator app to tell everyone that “I came here to land 2340”
Well done Hiroto - we look forward to seeing which feat he will pull off next!
